DIY Home-made Edible Fabric: this stuff is better than sliced bread!
We've made our share of paper thin cake decorations out of gum paste, and its doable, but oh so breakable, and can make for some nerve-wracking deliveries.
In this step-by-step tutorial you'll see how 5 ingredients come together to make cake magic:
rice paper also called wafer paper
2 TBSP powdered unflavored gelatin I use either Great Lakes or Knox
4 TBSP water
2 TBSP glycerine
powdered food color
Tools:
silpat mat
measuring spoons
microwavable cup or bowl
broad art brush (i.e. 1-2" flat brush)
spoon for stirring
knife
microwave
